Restorative Care

At Blue Hill Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, we’d prefer that you keep your natural teeth for life. There are a variety of treatment options we can recommend, including dental crowns, bridges, and root canals, to repair, strengthen, and save your teeth. On occasion, a tooth extraction may be necessary.

Dental Crowns

A crown can help strengthen a tooth with a large filling when there isn’t enough of the tooth remaining to hold the filling. Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, protect weak teeth from breaking, or restore a tooth that’s already broken. A crown is a good way to cover discolored or badly shaped teeth. Crowns are also used to cover dental implants.

Dental Bridges

A fixed bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth, literally bridging the gap between supporting teeth. Bridges can be made from gold, alloy, ceramic, or a combination of these materials. They are attached to surrounding teeth for support. Unlike a removable partial denture, which you can take out and clean, only a dentist can remove a fixed bridge.

Root Canals

We may recommend a root canal treatment if you have a severely damaged, decaying, or infected tooth or abscess. Root canals are used to repair and save your tooth instead of removing it. In some complicated cases, we may refer you to a local endodontist, a dentist specializing in the pulp and tissue surrounding teeth.

Tooth Extractions

A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth, usually due to disease, trauma, or crowding.
